Family Heirlooms

I was very close to my Grandma and she, and my mum, were very keen on my interest in sewing, patterns, colour and print and encouraged me in everything. When my Grandma died, I was given her sewing box, which was full of bits and pieces gathered over the decades. It occurred to me that I could create a ‘portrait’ of her through the things she left behind and, in doing so, also allude to the fact that these objects play a small but significant role in all our lives. I decided to make a series of screen prints about this, and also added in a few that were about other family members – my daughter and my mum.

I still have some of these prints to purchase here
